Andy Evans — Instructor
Andy is originally from North Wales and found his interest in hill walking whilst at school. He found at an early age that any ball sports i.e. football, rugby, tennis was out of the question, and with no coordination and being non competative the outdoors was more to his liking and still today the passion is there wherever there’s a mountain to climb.
After leaving the RAF in the mid eighty’s Andy trained as a Chiropractor, he then gained his Cert Ed and is now a Health & Safety Advisor for a charity that looks after adults with learning difficulties. He mainly teaches manual handling at various colleges and for nursing staff at local hospitals.
Over the last thirty five years or so his interest has grown, he has walked extensively in the Brecon Beacons, Mid and North Wales, 'what a lovely play ground' he’d say. Andy has also led walks in the Lake District, Scotland, also in the Pyrenees and the Dolomites. To add to his mountain portfolio he has also climbed Mt Blonc in Chamonix.
Andy is a qualified Mountain Leader and has also gained his SPA Single Pitch Award (Climbing) which is another part of the great outdoors that he enjoys. Which does he prefer the most? Well, in his own words 'it depends who you’re with, who’s got the food and who is buying the first round'.
Andy’s philosophy is, 'enjoy what you’re doing, find your balance but above all else, have fun'. 'Life is too good to waste'.
