Jowan Clarke — Instructor
Jowan's mantra:
'Life is precious… Live it well!
From an early age Jowan showed a keen interest in physical activity and ran her first 10km road race at the tender age of 7. From this her interest developed through many team and individual sports leading the way for her to gain GCSE, A Level and Degree qualifications in the field of physical activity and health.
Following University Jowan’s career path altered taking her into the area of Computer Aided Design and Resource Planning. The roles that Jowan undertook afforded her the opportunity to learn a great deal about people, project management and business sense. Though this stage of her career did not focus on physical activity in the workplace, Jowan held a keen interest in running, pilates and weight training throughout this time.
After moving to South Wales in 2005, Jowan has been able to further pursue her chosen career in physical and recreational activities within her local community.
Jowan's recent qualifications include:
• INWA (International Nordic Walking Federation) Nordic Walking Instructor
• Nordic Walk Leader (British Nordic Walking)
• Walk Leader (Let’s Walk Cymru)
• National Standard Cycling Instructor (Provisional)
• OCN (Open College Network)
• Off Road Support Rider (Cycling Leader).
Jowan enjoys two fulfilling positions at present; working as part of the Milestone Activities team as Business support and part-time Instructor and volunteering for a local project as a Nordic Walking Instructor. Jowan feels that both of these positions share the philosophy that physical activity should be fun and sociable when planning and conducting any session.
Jowan still enjoys running, pilates and weight training alongside her other hobbies: singing, drumming and gardening; Jowan spends her spare time with her husband, friends and cats.
