Milestone Activities have developed a half day workshop for those of you who would like to find out more information on mountian walking.
If you have a group of 10 or more people we can come to you, or if you have a smaller group we can merge you with another group.
This half day course has been put together for beginners to mountain walking who are looking for a basic training session on 'what to expect in the hills?'.
As you may have heard over the recent months there have been many fatalities in the mountains, and this is due to poor equipment and lack of knowledge. The mountains are one of the most wonderful places to explore, but if you are ill equip they can also be one of the most dangerous.
On this half day training session you will cover the following:
• Why we climb mountains?
• What type of equipment and clothing?
• Navigation with a map and compass
• Actions in an emergency
Our instructor will bring along examples of clothing, footwear, rucksacks and maps for you to have a look at.
After the half day course we can offer you a day out in the mountains putting what you have learnt into practice.
Taking this session further — we can also deliver sessions on wild camping, this will encompass a morning or afternoon in the classroom looking at different tents, stoves and food and then putting together a weekend.
